SOME THING MORE THAN EDUCATION.......

The plan please...
From the moment we got to know about our health educational program all of us were exited.really were.we knew that it too is going to be a new experience. One of many that so far we had come through  in this exiting community medicine appointment....
The smile tells all .isn't it?
It took us 3 day s of discussion, changes and arguments(friendly ones though) to came up with our final presentation. So here we go..Dengue was the topic.. perhaps it may be the most heard thing these days but we were quite sure that we would come up with a complete and more practical..and we did...
We knew that it would be a different setting in an orphanage in comparison to a school in which our  colleagues has done this health education program. And we were up to it.

It was a rainy day and as we entered the orphanage it was already raining...still remember some of those smiles of little ones' as they saw us.A more than enough welcome it was...

the field visit was fun
We were given a small group of grade 6,7,8 student.I had to start. No pressure though.I started giving an introduction describing why we are talking on dengue for them and went on to out line our plan.
And then my group members descibe about the dengue virus, the vector , dengue fever and on prevention of dengue respectively. They all did a great job.I was so happy because it is our team work that had become a success. They were friendly. They may raised only an occasional question. But their enthusiastic faces told that they are gaining what we wanted to give them.

Then the dengue watch....we asked all of them to come with us for a field visit looking for mosquito breeding places. We found few and discussed the possible solution. And they looked determined prevent such places in the future.

well done group A
So overall we just did not gave them education. But the path of using knowledge in the best way in real life. We our self gained much more than the ability of health education...for an example team work...yes a successful team work it was.Thank you all my collegues Dilshan,Sachintha,Tharaka and Shajani.....And well done people of other sub groups as well.It was great.really was.
