workplace safety
It was our "factory visit" day..We went to the MOH office with interesting memories back in mind which i had of another factory visit as a school girl..but this time it was totaly a different experience..
First we were taught what is occupational health at the MOH office.then we visited a factory,it was known as KASH garment, export oriented garment manufacturing organization with the help of 340 employees.
When visiting the factory we could see many of the things that our PHI explained in his lecture;a sick room with a trained nurse, fire alarm system with fire fighting equipments, emergency exists display boards, first aid boxes(some empty ones as well :) )
All the moving parts of the machines were properly covered with the instructions.Operators were wearing gloves.Although evrybody has been provided with the safety masks only a few was wearing.
We visited their canteen as well.It was a big ,clean one with good air circulation.
At the end of our factory visit,we understood that there are government stipulated rules and regulations, above all it's a responsibilty of all concerned to safeguard the work force of the country..
I think this quote from the labour department SL would summarize all what we learnt that day..
"and the end is,
that the workman shall live to
enjoy the fruit of his labour
that his mother shall have the
comfort of his arm in her age
that his wife shall not be
ultimately a widow
that his children shall have a father
& that cripples & hopeless wrecks who were once strong men
shall no longer be the
by product of industry"
