CARE IS BETTER THAN CURE.

The community medicine, clerkship programme is one of the experiences in medical school. The first day of the programme we were visited to our MOH office.

MOH Office! Initially I heard this word in my community medicine lecture. From that, my thought was “it is a basic hospital which providing primary care and health education”. But it has changed after my first visit to MOH Office!

I wonder that the services provided by MOH office & this system keep public health in a higher level. The staffs in the MOH office are very keen in their work to maintain a successful health system in the country. MOH, supervising public health midwife, public health midwife, and public health inspector are some health care providing staff in the office. MOH is the leader of the team and is in charge of all public health activities.

Some of the responsibilities of MOH,
Supervision and control of the team
                 Arranging all health educational work
                 Communicable disease surveillance
                 Implement and supervise vaccines
Conduct maternal and child welfare clinics

Some of the responsibilities of PHI,
                      Communicable disease surveillance
                      Food care
                      Healthy water supply & sanitary
                      Environmental & occupational health

We learnt the functions & services that are providing by MOH office during our visit.
While back to the faculty I thought “rather than doing private practice in an urban area being a MOH in a rural area gives more internal satisfaction & long lasting happiness”.
