Visit to Karadiyana garbage dump

                             On 14th  morning first we went to the MOH office Boralesgamuwa.There we got knowledge about the waste management in the Karadiyana. After that we went to Karadiyana garbage dump. As we reached there we didn't get the usual smell of a dump. No waste all over the place. Well organize garbage dump we can saw there.

                             First we went to the place where they weight the waste. There was a bridge when the vehicle come with the garbage they measure the weight,after unloading they measure weight again and get the waste weight.They take money for the garbage according to the weight.Usually they received 100 Tons per day and they work every day.

                         
                            Then we went to see the mountain of garbage.But there were not lot of flies or bad smell.They told that if the dumping vehicles are garbage separate as polythene paper,bio degrade product & etc it would easy their dumping process.

                            For the workers they are maintaining separate file for each worker about health.Data of vaccination and screening program for TB,Malaria,Filariasis & etc on these.
                            There were some problem with garbage dump.Near by Bolgoda lake can be polluted by driving of fluid of the dump.Birds carrying dump & put to lake etc

                            They use pesguard & BTI two days in every week to Werahera & Karadiyana surrounding area to control infection.

                            There are planning to produce power by using these waste & it would decline these garbage  mountain near future!!!!!!!!!
