WE SHOULD LOVE
We came to the end of our clerkship programme. This is the 3rd
week. After getting so many experiences 29th of august we went to
FRIENSDS-IN-NEED SOCIETY to get another unforgettable experience. After
visiting there Mr.M.K Karunasena who is the manager of the work shop warmly welcomes
us. Then he gave an introduction to Friends in need society.
It was established in 1831.This was organized to help
disabled people in Sri Lanka. This is the oldest charitable organization in the
country. Services of it
- Artificial limbs are manufactured.
- Mobile bus-Limb fitting workshop.
- Education grants to disabled children.
- Pension scheme for disabled elders.
- Self-employment grants.
And they also maintain transit hostel for disabled persons.
By all those things they try to rehabilitate disabled. Considering about the
medical rehabilitation there are two types 1.Prosthetics
2.Orthostics.
Here they use prosthetics (Medical device using to replace
missing body part)
After seen how these are made, how they replace the missing
body part I was thinking there is no any devices that fulfill all the functions
of any of the human body part. So WE SHOULD LOVE OUR OWN BODY.
