‘Paradise of pain relief’
Hmm...Yet another memorable place for relief... It’s not other than Victoria Home...Mainly not for bodily pain...It’s for hearts those getting hurt inside due to their physical disability from birth, after an accident such spinal injuries, due to the fate of a disease such myopathy, paralysis...Even more...

It’s our 3rd Saturday of our appointment, bringing some remarkable memories in my life...When I visit to Victoria home 1st time...Thanks for all who make this opportunity...
Although it’s located near to a main town rajagiriya, it’s a cool place with clean environment...initially it was established in 1888 near eye hospital but from 1960 it’s active in current place...With 175 inmates , around 50 staffs including director, matron, nurses and attendants..All the adequate service are provided to inmates...Such important basic needs like safe shelter, food, sanitary facilities, clothes and folding wheel chair...Dhaam board, newspapers, library facilities for their leisure time...in case of a ill condition admission to NHSL with provided transport...Medical checkups by a doctor on every Sunday...More than this there are annual sporsmeets and trips as entertainment...in a case of death Raymond’s undertakers providing the rest free of charge..
But more than everything they are so creative... Most of them are engaged in making handicraft items...Such soft toys, stocking flowers bands, key tags with saline tubes...truly awesome.. They are given opportunity to sell those items too... we also bought some of them to encourage them.DSCF0922.JPG
The home is being directly maintaining by government, with its own fund and added funds by donations from social service organizations and individuals...the public also mush interest in providing foods for them with their donations...
So, at last the great Victoria home is being always paradise of pain relief when the inmates saying without words...with their activities “we have been not handicapped by our condition, we are physically challenged and differently able”...
